The Air Helix construction of the Reference Digital 2404 is absolutely unique. In order to get as close as possible to perfect air insulation, we have developed a special clip. Inside the cable, a large number of these clips form the supporting structure, which keeps the signal conductors free in the air in a helix shape and guides them through the shielding at a defined distance.
The flexibility of this construct is achieved via two bars, which keep the clips together and precisely spaced apart. In the case of coaxial cables, the shielding is usually used as the ground conductor at the same time. The Reference Digital 2404, on the other hand, has a double-symmetrical design and has two plus and two minus conductors. Thus the shielding runs completely separate and the signal remains free from interference.
AIR HELIX CONSTRUCTION
Air is still the best insulator for cables. It allows low capacities and low losses. With the Air Helix construction on the Reference Digital 2404, we’re closer to pure air isolation than ever before. A homogeneous structure is just as important as the insulation. This means that the conductors and the shielding must maintain precisely defined distances from one another. To meet these requirements, we have developed a special clip.

Of course, the conductors themselves also play a major role. The Digital 2404 consists of 32 high-purity copper wires braided onto a PE core. As a result, the series inductance is extremely reduced. A wafer-thin layer of lacquer on the wires prevents eddy currents between the wires. A conductor who can also pass on extremely dynamic signal sequences very quickly and precisely
