Balanced Analogue And Digital Outputs

Learning much from the highly regarded D30.2, the CD31 is the definitive statement of Primare’s elite electronic design ethos.

Utilising fully balanced low-noise topology throughout and the finest discrete circuit components, the beautifully conceived CD31 will exceed the highest of expectations to deliver musical excellence, pure and simple.

The ultra low-noise DVS transport mechanism reads each disc with accuracy, while high quality 24-bit 96kHz DACs, matching 24-bit 96 kHz filters and an ultra-low noise, high-speed output stage preserves every musical nuance. Multiple, isolated low-noise power supplies are used to keep the musical signal free of electrical interference, exploiting the full potential of the CD31's dual-mono balanced design.

Dual Mono – Dual Mode Design

All stereo recordings comprise two discrete channels. When heard together, they create the illusion of a complete stereo soundstage. In most CD player designs, left and right channels share a single DAC, blurring the distinction between them and undermining the stereo illusion.

Four Burr-Brown 1704 K DACs are used, with each channel utilising two DACs operating in dual-mode. Independent low-noise power supplies feed each channel, while an R-type transformer power supply provides separate windings for the analogue, digital circuitry and DVS transport.

Primare's meticulous design approach is applied throughout the player, right down to the gold-plated analogue, digital and balanced outputs. The CD31’s sleek, elegant heavy-steel exterior, matches the design of other 30 series models.

The final result is pure music, unsullied by the usual limitations of the CD format, from a sophisticated CD player that exemplifies in every way, Primare's approach to design and sound engineering.

Specifications

Primare Systems has built a worldwide reputation for producing innovative audio and video products that break with convention. Each product is a statement of its desire to be different. In offering a unique blend of sophisticated, timeless Scandinavian design, class-leading build quality, and proprietary state-of-the-art technological advance, Primare has avoided the ‘me-too’ design culture, which relies on ‘off-the-shelf’ components and circuits out of necessity. There are no superficial benefits and exaggerated specifications.
